Project 23 MORIMURA Yasumasa (artist) + SAKASHITA Noriyuki 

(former day labourer, current student at Kamagasaki Art University)

​Concept

This is the encounter room of MORIMURA Yasumasa, a leading Japanese contemporary artist living in Osaka, and SAKASHITA Noriyuki, a day labourer from Kagoshima. Cocoroom helped Mr. MORIMURA create artworks in 2007, in which he dressed up as Lenin in Kamagasaki. In 2012, MORIMURA became a lecturer about art at the Kamagasaki University of Arts and became the artistic director of the Yokohama Triennale 2014, in which Kamagei participated. 

In 2015, he established Aesthetics Society at the Graduate School. Mr. SAKASHITA (72 years pld), encountered cocoroom in 2011 and began participating in workshops about expression.His humorous storytelling attracts people and he appeared in the film 'TANIGAWA Shuntaro, hitotsu shi wo tsukutte ku da sa i'. He is activly engaged in the Kamagasaki Kyogenkai and a trip to meet Itako in Hachinohe organised by cocoroom. UEDA Kanayo, a reperesentive of cocoroom, collected Mr. SAKASHITA's words and people associated with Kamagasaki wrote them into calligraphy.
